Abstract
Fisheries play an important role in the economy of Bihar state and its productivity depends on ponds ecosystem India also. India is an Agricultural based country in which contribution of fisheries in total Agricultural Gross Domestic Production (GDP), fish protein (food) Production and supply, raising nutritional level, generating employment opportunity/revenue and earnings of foreign exchange as well (A Hand Book of India Agriculture 2020). India's inland water capture production is 12.6% of world total production of 11.63 million tones at stands as 1.4 million tonnes in 2019 – 2020.There are two types of water reservoir one is natural called Lake and another is manmade called pond. The present two selected ponds i.e. Baz-Taz-Khan & Mamu-Bhanja is of historical importance and manmade. Both the ponds situated in thickly populated area of Hazipur i.e. head quarter of Vaishali district. Both the ponds are extensively used for pisciculture. In the present study, the organic content and organic matter were found maximum during summer (0.54 & 0.53% O.C. and 1.50 & 1.49%M.) followed by spring (0.49 & 0.45% O.C. and 1.26 & 1.29% O.M.) and minimum during monsoon (0.33 & 0.36% O.C. and 0.57 & 0.62% O.M) followed by winter (0.40 & 0.39% O.C. and 0.69 & 0.67% OM) months in Baz-Taz-Khan & Mamu-Bhanja ponds respectively
